Periodontal Deep Cleaning
Periodontal disease affects 3 out of every 4 adults and infects the gum tissue surrounding the roots of the teeth. If you have a tooth that is loose, this can be a sign of periodontal disease. Our dental hygienist can do a very quick diagnostic test to determine if you have periodontal disease. Periodontal disease increases the risk for a Heart Attack, Stroke and is affected by Diabetes.
Treating Periodontal Disease
This disease process is treatable and can be managed by having a deep cleaning done by your dental hygienist. This procedure is performed using a numbing gel and having your hygienist remove the bacteria that surround the root surfaces and lead to bone loss around the teeth. Once performed the dentist will place you on a 3 or 4 maintenance cleaning schedule to help reduce the risk of the disease progressing any further.
